澳籍华人,被誉为悉尼“唐人街之王(King of Chinatown)”的侨领方劲武,是悉尼人家喻户晓的人物。同时,他还有“悉尼慈善大使”的美誉。四十多年来,他致力于社会公益慈善事业,是悉尼华人慈善的先驱者。
Fang Jinwu, Chinese Australian, known as “King of Chinatown” in Sydney, is a well-known figure in Sydney. Meanwhile, he is also reputed as “Goodwill Ambassador in Sydney”. He has been committed to the cause of philanthropy as a pioneer of Chinese philanthropist in Sydney for over forty years.
他曾经担任市长夫人基金会华人联络负责人十多年,在商界,文化,体育界中也享有声誉,现在方劲武除了担任华埠总商会秘书长外,还是华星乒乓球协会名誉会长,中华文化协会会长。他几乎把所有的时间都投入了社会公益、慈善及促进文化体育交流发展的工作中,而且,尽心尽力,数十年如一日。1988年,方劲武服务社会,热心公益慈善三十年的成绩,使他获颁授澳大利亚的OAM勋衔。在悉尼市150周年的庆典中,方劲武和其它几位华人OAM在市政厅获英国女王接见。其毕生的成就与贡献为整个华人社会树立了典范,他卓越的一生将永久载入华人榜的荣誉史册。
He has served as contact person in charge of the Chinese of Foundation of Mayor’s Wife for over ten years and has been renowned in the field of business, culture and sport. As the secretary of the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, honorary president of the China Star Table Tennis Association as well as president of China Cultural Association, he has devoted almost all his time to the cause of social welfare and charity and promoting cultural and sports exchanges and development. In addition, he spared no effort to it with perseverance and constancy for decades. In 1988, Fang Jinwu, with his great performances in social charity enthusiastically for 30 years, was awarded Australia’s OAM honor. In the 150th anniversary celebration of Sydney, Fang Jinwu, together with several other Chinese OAM winners, were met by the Queen of England at the City Hall. His lifetime achievements and contributions have set a good example for the whole Chinese community and his remarkable life will be permanently recorded in the Who is who of outstanding Chinese in Cambridge World.
